Yes - your npub is your public key. All your posts on Nostr are public by design, just like tweets on Twitter. This tool only accesses publicly available data. Your private key (nsec) remains secure and is never exposed.

Technically yes, since all Nostr posts are public. However, you should only backup and import your own content. Importing someone else's events without permission could be considered impersonation.
Some relays have policies that reject old events (anti-spam), duplicates, or require payment to write. This is normal. Events successfully published to other relays will still be visible across the Nostr network.
No! Events keep their original signatures, so they remain authentic without re-signing. Only provide your nsec if you specifically need to re-sign events (rare use case).
Your DMs (kind 4 events) will be included in the backup, but they're encrypted. You'll see the encrypted content, not the plaintext messages. Only you and the recipient can decrypt them.
We recommend backing up weekly if you're an active user, or monthly for casual users. You can also backup before major events like switching relays or trying new clients.
The tool connects to multiple relays simultaneously. If one relay is down, others will still work. You'll see which relays succeeded and which failed in the progress view.
Events are cryptographically signed, so editing them would break the signature. If you need to modify content, you should create new events instead of editing old ones.
No! Relays automatically reject duplicate events (same event ID). You can safely import the same backup multiple times - duplicates are ignored.
Backup typically takes 10-30 seconds depending on how many events you have and relay response times. Import takes longer (1-2 minutes per 100 events) because we publish to multiple relays sequentially.
